I have suddenly found that both my thumbnails have ripples in them. Does anybody know what that's all about?

its completely normal. in rare instances, it could be a sign of arsenic poisoning, but you'd be near your death bed if that were the case. don't worry about it. buff and file them smooth if it bothers you!
