Friend always in competition...?

i have a friend thats always feeling the need to compete with me and its VERY annoying.at first it wasnt that bad but now its gotten to the point where she's just rude and degrading.if i get a $50 hairdo shell says hers cost $100...if were together and a guy trys to talk to me shell go out of her way to say three tried to talk to her earlier that day.when we get around people she always trys to embarr me or make herself seem smarter like the other day we went out to eat and i got some lettuce and i said i love salad...so she had to make a scene HAHAHAHAHA GIRL THAT IS NOT A SALAD ITS LETTUCE...!HAHAHAHAHA!! STOP SAYING ITS A SALAD YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT...!! etc etc..shes even lied about relationships jobs cars etc to try and make me jealous..we've been friends for a long time but this has been going on since high school and im almost ready to break friendship over it..idk if shes jealous because i get more attention from guys(i NEVER throw it up in her face or try to make her feel bad about it) any advice??
