Why cant conservatives keep terrorism in prospective?

I am a libertarian but like many of the conservative principles but cant understand why they can't keep the terrorist issue in prospective. 9/11 was a policing issue and could have been easily stopped. Also more people die in their bath tub each year then the attacts on 9/11. terrorist can easily be dealt with by our intelligence and police the idea of going to war with countries is ludicrous. Could this be an issue of men being insecure of their manhood wanting to go to war instead of based on facts and logic?
